I want to go shopping at the NYDC!

 - by Lena

Living in Greece I didn’t have any immediate need to visit the NYDC website. However, while doing some research yesterday I came across their site and was blown away by the mouth-watering choice of beautiful, top quality items I found. I couldn’t resist adding some of my first choices which include items from Cote France, Henredon, Brueton, Century Furniture, Kravet, Hickory Chair, Profiles, Barton Sharpe, Michael Tavano & McGuire…..I think you’ll agree that the items here are bursting with colour – something I love in interior schemes, even if the overall scheme is whites or a neutral palette I can’t resist adding a hot (or cool) accent to add some punch……oh please let me go shopping!

my living room redo

 - by Lena

The following photos show my living room before and after. There’s also a little story that goes with the stone on my mantel. My husband is a cruise ship captain and when he was on the M/V Azur we used to sail through the Corinth Canal every week. The vessel had protective ‘bumpers’ on the left and right sides of it to protect it as we would go through. The canal is very narrow and passage could take us between one and four hours depending on the current. Anyway, quite frequently the ship would brush the sides of the canal and chunks of limestone would break away from the sides of the canal and land on these wide bumpers. Rather than throw them away into the water my husband asked the bosun to keep a few for him. ‘Crazy’ you might think. Well, several years later when we decided to decorate our fireplace we had a stone mason cut these rocks for us and fit them onto our mantel. So now we can say we have a piece of the Corinth Canal in our living room :)
